Mineral scaling

Scalewatcher prevents new scale formation and gradually removes existing deposits. Since its launch in 1989, it has proven successful in many industrial applications.

Today, physical water treatment is widely accepted in industry as a high-tech, reliable method for mineral scale prevention.

Rust

An additional benefit in iron pipes carrying oxygen-rich water is that rust formation can be reduced. Existing rust is gradually removed and replaced by a very thin black protective layer known as magnetite.

Corrosion
Scalewatcher helps prevent the kind of corrosion that is promoted by hard scale deposits or bacteria. It keeps surfaces cleaner, reduces under-deposit corrosion risk, and will reduce the need for acid cleaning.

Biofilm

A further benefit is the reduction of bacteria in process water, as Scalewatcher’s cleaning effect removes the surfaces where bacteria can develop. This is especially noticeable in cooling towers. Field reports show reduced scaling, no algae growth, very low bacteria counts, and less corrosion.

Water disposal

Industries often pay not only for water use, but also for water disposal from boiler and cooling tower blowdown. Because Scalewatcher helps keep systems cleaner, conductivity limits can often be set higher, reducing the frequency of blowdowns.

This can lead to water savings of 50–80%, lowering both water consumption and disposal costs, and providing a rapid return on a one-time investment.
